Nick Wood

Nick Wood is the Chief Executive Officer of Media Intelligence Partners. Since founding MIP in 2004 he has built up the company to become one of the leading public relations and public affairs practices in the UK. Using his extensive book of media contacts and knowledge, Nick has worked with around 50 clients including prestigious international think-tanks like the Heritage Foundation and some of the thought-leaders in UK public policy, such as the Centre for Social Justice and ResPublica.

In addition to the firm’s work within the Westminster village, Nick has also worked with major private sector clients including HSBC Bank and eBay. In 2008 he also established the media training and presentation company Pitch-Perfect with Jonathan Haslam, a former Downing Street press secretary.

Before starting his own company, Nick was Press Secretary and Media Director for Conservative Party leaders  William Hague and Iain Duncan Smith. He previously had a long and distinguished career writing for various national newspapers and publications. During his time with the Conservative Party he played a pivotal role in the victory in the 1999 European elections and was at the heart of the 2001 general election campaign. He was responsible for conducting daily press briefings for five years and was consulted by party leaders and Shadow Cabinet members on all critical media, policy and presentational matters.

As a journalist Nick wrote for the Daily Express as Education Correspondent, where he covered the major reforms implemented by Margaret Thatcher amid widespread trade union unrest. Nick went on to write for The Times, rising to the post of Chief Political Correspondent, reporting on major UK political developments and travelling abroad with UK Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Nick continues to appear regularly on television, radio and in print with several national newspapers.
